The federal Social Innovation Fund (SIF) has awarded LISC with a $11.3 million grant to build Bridges to Career Opportunities, a program that helps people lay the groundwork for earnings growth by addressing several fundamental challenges around basic literacy. Addressing the basic bath and reading skills aspect of educational gap, BCO is a broad work of LISC's Financial Opportunity Centers to help low-income families stabilize their financial outlook and build for the future. To understand the value and impact of our Financial Opportunity Centers (FOCs), LISC National recently conducted a nation-wide study on the outcomes of 40,000 low-income clients seeking assistance at LISC-supported FOCs. The published research, called "Integrated Services and Improved Financial Outcomes for Low-Income Households," yielded significant results, indicating just how valuable it is for FOCs to take on a multi-faceted approach with income and wealth building when it comes to assisting our clients with career and personal financial services.
