LISC Phoenix is using transit and Transit Oriented Development as a platform for community development in the valley.  The strategic initiative, Our Future is on the Line, launched in 2013 responds to the potential for sustainable and equitable development created by the light rail system in our region.  It emphasizes the urgency and need to provide development alternatives that can reduce transportation costs, improve air quality, promote healthy living, increase our economic competitiveness and build livable communities. 

LISC & Raza Development Fund pledge $30 million to spur transit-oriented development in low-income communities

Just days before the opening of the Central Mesa extension of the light rail, LISC and local nonprofit RAZA Development Fund have announced $30 million in funding to attract new housing and businesses to low-income communities along key transit corridors. Read more

When people think of Phoenix, more often than not it’s the city’s wide open spaces, our mountain peaks and desert landscapes. This big space beauty and lifestyle make the Phoenix Metro area one of the greatest places to live. What people may not consider when choosing Phoenix as a destination, whether relocating or vacationing, is how the Valley of the Sun is developing. As we grow, we’ll need to do it smartly to keep those desert views as awe-inspiring twenty years from now.
