Hurricane Sandy Recovery

Hurricane Sandy struck New York City on October 29, 2012. The storm was devastating, causing an estimated $65 billion in damages and killing 44 New Yorkers. Some of New York’s most underserved neighborhoods were struck the hardest, leaving many people homeless or without heat, electricity, clothing or food.

Immediately after the storm, LISC NYC rallied financial resources from public and private partners and developed a range of programs to rebuild and rehabilitate the homes and lives of Sandy-affected New Yorkers. Read more about our Hurricane Sandy programs below:
