Technical Assistance

LISC NYC provides expert technical assistance throughout the real estate development process, especially in the early predevelopment phase before site acquisition and financing is secured.  

From early site remediation issues to intense negotiations with city government and banks on financing, CDCs look to LISC NYC as an essential partner and intermediary that advocates on behalf of nonprofit developers and helps them to prepare applications for critical project financing. LISC also often provides our CDC partners with expert real estate development consultants. 

An integral component of LISC’s TA tool kit is delivered by LISC NYC senior staff through on-site monitoring visits to partner CDCs to gauge the soundness of their financial controls and organizational policies and procedures. This technical assistance enables us to conduct due diligence on the overall financial and operational health of each of our partner grantees, and enables us to target further capacity building assistance.

 


The New York Land Opportunity Program (NYLOP)

In 2016, LISC NYC launched the New York Land Opportunity Program (NYLOP) in partnership with the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development and the Mayor's Community Affairs Unit. This program will help mission-driven organizations with limited real estate experience to form joint venture partnerships to develop affordable housing on their underutilized land. Mission driven organizations may include: faith-based organizations, owners of HUD 202 senior housing, and social service agencies.

Technical Assistance

LISC NYC is currently accepting applications for NYLOP! Through an application process, LISC NYC will select an initial cohort of mission-driven organizations to receive a one-year package of pro-bono technical assistance services to help them develop affordable housing on their underutilized land through joint venture partnerships.

LISC NYC will select organizations for technical assistance through a two-part selection process. The first step will be submission of Letters of Interest (LOIs) by Monday, January 16, 2017. Upon review of the LOIs, LISC NYC will invite a subset of qualified organizations to submit more detailed applications for intensive technical assistance.
