Policy and Advocacy

The goal of LISC NYC’s policy work is to advocate and support programs that promote the transformation of distressed neighborhoods into sustainable communities of choice and opportunity with good places to work, do business and raise children. We advocate for resources and supportive government policies before federal and local government through coalitions with community based development corporations (CDCs), foundations, and government

Federal Advocacy

At the federal level we work with LISC’s National Policy Office to advocate for sustained funding and potential expansion of key housing and tax credit programs that make local community development possible.

State & Local Advocacy

At the local level we work with our coalition partners to advocate for continued and increased state and city funding for housing and community development programs. We share our expertise, budget, and policy recommendations with local government agencies, particularly New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR) and the New York City Department of  Housing Preservation and Development (HPD).
