What is the Neighborhoods Rising fund?
The Neighborhoods Rising Fund (NRF) is a funding collaborative administered by the Community Capital Fund and Greater Kansas City LISC to provide grants up to $3,000 for small but high-impact community projects in low- to moderate-income areas throughout Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas.
The NRF was launched with funding provided by the William T. Kemper Foundation, H&R Block Foundation, and the Hallmark Corporate Foundation. Since then, additional funders including AltCap, Hall Family Foundation, Sosland Foundation, Dunn Family Foundation, and Commerce Bank have joined this unique funding collaborative.
What types of projects qualify?
Project eligibility is based on three key criteria: community need, organizational capacity, and the Greater Kansas City LISC's Quality of Life Goals. The NRF has funded a broad spectrum of neighborhood capacity-building projects and initiatives, ranging from a neighborhood newsletter and a spring cleanup, to park improvements and community gardens. To qualify, applicants must be an incorporated neighborhood association or 501c3 non-taxable entity located in designated census tracts in both Missouri and Kansas.
