One of Duluth LISC's strategic priorities is to build the capacity of our collaborating partners, community-based organizations and resident leaders to sustain improvements in our core neighborhoods and address affordable housing needs throughout Greater Duluth. To this end, we support local and statewide education and advocacy focused on racial disparities, diversity and equity.

Our primary equity work locally is with the United Way of Greater Duluth and ISD #709 through the Delegation on Educational Outcomes. The Delegation works to identify research-based strategies and best practices proven to increase overall academic achievement and reduce disparities evidenced by race and socio-economic factors. The Delegation's report: Phase I: Exploration of Issues, Data, and Strategies was released in 2013 in partnership with the Minnesota Minority Education Partnership

Duluth LISC has also participated in ISD's 709 "Think Kids" initiative, a community-based visioning process for the school district.

At the state level, Duluth LISC supports the 2013 Racial Equity Agenda for Minnesota from the Organizing Apprenticeship Project.
