Building Partnerships for Safe Communities

Newark Community Safety Summit

The Center for Collaborative Change, in partnership with Greater Newark LISC, the Rutgers School of Criminal Justice, and the Newark Police Department hosted the "What Works" Summit in Newark, NJ.  Featured at the summit was the Philadelphia Police Department 26th District and Asociacion Puertorriquenos en Marcha (APM) speaking about the reclamation of Rainbow de Colores park on the city's north side.   The park reclamation project significantly reduced crime through collaborative safety planning led by APM and the police.  This project began as part of a LISC CSI sponsored course in SafeGrowth and Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED)
