Crime & Safety Topics
CSI works with committed and experienced community development and police practitioners whose goal is to assess and imaginatively address public safety concerns. Since no single profession nor group of people has all the knowledge or capacity to comprehensively address a given problem, CSI prefers working on highly interdisciplinary and multi-lateral projects. To this end, CSI bridges the gaps and lays the foundation for mutually-respectful collaboration between widely diverse practitioners. The result is targeted problem solving from diverse community stakeholders.
This section highlights public safety strategies that focused on a specific crime problem or “hot spot” area in a neighborhood or target area. The resources below offer best practices on problem-solving strategies used by many law enforcement agencies and community partners across the country. Focused on specific types of crime and quality of life issues, practitioners short listed pressing community concerns, analyzed opportunities to affect positive change, developed responsive action plans, and identified roles for police, residents and other organizations.
