LISC provides loans and lines of credit, grants and recoverable grants, and equity investments consistent with local program office strategies and local community development needs. Community projects typically include: for-sale and rental housing; community facilities such as child care centers, schools, health care facilities, and playing fields; and economic development projects for retail and commercial buildings.

Loans can be for all stages of projects - predevelopment, property acquisition, construction, and permanent. We seek to strike the right balance between taking risks consistent with our role as a charitable lender, and recovering our capital so we can make funds available to future projects. Following are some examples of our loan products:
LISC offers a wide range of technical assistance to local organizations to undertake projects and programs intended to benefit their community. For example, we provide training opportunities, best practices resources, workshops and conferences, and local technical assistance in such areas as: affordable housing, retail, and facility development; and increasingly, programs that improve quality-of-life such as community safety, youth recreation and education.
