Bay Area Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) is the local office of a national organization. Bay Area LISC works to make neighborhood dreams a reality by working with cities, residents, nonprofit organizations, and key public and private partners to help neighbors build good places to live, do business, work, play, and raise families.
Our transformative community-building programs of affordable housing, neighborhood and family economic development are helping to bridge the economic divide for low-income families across the region. We drum up corporate and philanthropic support, providing loans, grants and equity investments, policy support, and the technical and management assistance neighbors need to realize their goals. We help neighbors build communities. LISC engages in a wide array of programs and services to the nonprofit and public sectors throughout the nine Bay Area counties with emphasis on Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, and Santa Clara.
As some of our work may change from year to year to respond to the needs of the community, the following are five goals to help us build sustainable communities:
(1) Expanding Investment in Housing and Other Real Estate;
(2) Increasing Family Income and Wealth;
(3) Stimulating Economic Development;
(4) Improving Access to Quality Education; and
(5) Supporting Healthy Environments and Lifestyles.
